Medicare Advisory Committee
The members of the APA's Medicare Advisory Corresponding Committee (MAC), listed below, serve as the psychiatry representatives (or alternates) to their states' Medicare Carrier Advisory Committees (CACs). They represent the interests of the psychiatrists in their state on the CAC, which is involved in setting Medicare Part B policy. They also serve as an information gathering body for the APA, allowing the national organization to track what is happening throughout the often-fragmented Medicare system all over the United States so that policy issues can be dealt with in a timely manner. If you are experiencing problems with Medicare, please contact your local MAC member or call the APA's Managed Care Help Line at (800) 343-4671.
