The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-IV-TR) includes an appendix (Appendix D) that provides an overview of the important changes in the text. In addition, some changes were made in the diagnostic codes in order to keep the codes compatible with the ICD-9-CM, the diagnostic coding system required by the U.S. Government and by most insurance carriers for reporting health care data.
