HIV Policy

The American Psychiatric Association (APA), through the work of the Committee on AIDS, is actively involved in the development of position statements and policy guidelines on issues relating to AIDS and HIV disease. These policies are designed to provide guidance to members of the profession as they struggle to honor their duty to preserve the confidences of patients while taking adequate precautions to protect others who may be at risk of contracting the disease.
