Buprenorphine and Office-Based Treatment of Opioid Dependence
This online 8-hour training is based on the experience of live training with added online features. This course allows physicians to complete the training requirement for CSAT certification to prescribe buprenorphine in office-based treatment of opiate dependent patients as established by the Drug Addiction Treatment Act of 2000. The Course consists of 3 video and audio/slide lectures with multiple choice tests, 3 interactive case study discussions, 4 filmed vignettes portraying situations the physician may encounter in providing this treatment, and an updated information section.

Evaluation and Management Coding (CPT) and Documentation for Psychiatrists
This program will educate participants on how to code using the CPT codes for general medical evaluation and management of patients. These codes are often the most appropriate codes to use for the care provided by a psychiatrist. The use of these codes may result in better remuneration. Medical evaluation and management is a critical part of current psychiatric practice. However, despite its prominent role in the practice of today’s psychiatrists, general medical evaluation and management (E/M) codes remain an under-used resource. To date, there are few resources on the topic of E/M coding that teach the learner how to identify the appropriate E/M code and collect the necessary documentation. The documentation required for E/M codes is more complex and specific than that required by standard psychiatry codes and is explained in guidelines published by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Research Literacy
This course aims to educate students and clinicians on what it means to critically appraise the scientific literature, why it is important to be able to do so, and how to appraise the scientific literature in a critical, thorough, and systematic manner. Not only will this course help students and physicians stay abreast of changes in the field and identify gaps in the literature, in a practical sense, it will enable greater access to evidence-based care and inform clinical decisions.  Prior to starting the course, participants will read the article entitled “Reducing Suicidal Ideation and Depression in Older Primary Care Patients: 24-Month Outcomes of the PROSPECT Study” by Alexopoulos, et al. (2009).

My Transcript
APA provides the CME/Course Transcript Report as a service to our members and CME users.  When you enroll at www.apaeducation.org, CME credit for completed online programs is automatically recorded in your transcript.  Users may also enter other CME activities in the CME/Course Transcript and print reports of the activities as needed.  The burden of proof of CME falls on the individual physician to keep track of the CME activities he or she completes. The CME/Course Transcript Reports do not replace certificates of completion for an activity and the APA cannot make any warranty as to the accuracy of the reports.
