Implementing Antagonist Based Relapse Prevention Treatment for Buprenorphine- Treated Individuals

While agonist maintenance remains a treatment of choice for patients with opioid dependence, naltrexone, an opioid antagonist, offers an alternative approach to assist in recovery.

This presentation will help clinicians using buprenorphine to adopt naltrexone in their practice. Covered topics include:
      *selection of candidates for naltrexone treatment,
      *clinical strategies to initiate treatment, 
      *safety concerns, and
      *addressing clinical problems emerging during treatment with naltrexone.

Pharmacological and behavioral strategies aimed at improving the effectiveness of naltrexone will also be discussed.
