Established in December 1998 as part of the Committee on Psychiatric Dimensions of Disasters’ charge, the Erich Lindemann Disaster Grant provides contingency funds available in the event of a disaster for District Branches. A maximum of $10,000 per disaster (not to exceed $30,000 for all disasters per year) are available.
A portion, or all of this, amount may be released to a District Branch for use in dealing with the mental health response to a disaster.
How to apply:
A District Branch president makes the written request to the Medical Director, who consults with the APA President, Speaker, and Committee on Psychiatric Dimensions of Disasters Chair, in order to determine if the grant should be given and how much should be issued.
